Successful CPLF-Sponsored Events
December was a busy month at the Concord Public Library with many well-attended and successful programs made possible in part by CPLF funds.
The New England Irish Harp Orchestra returned to the library for the 16th year and played to an audience of 82 community members. The New England Irish Harp Orchestra performs Traditional Irish dance tunes, slow airs and songs. December’s annual library performance is always much anticipated!
The last adult program for December was Winter Hiking with Allison Driscoll of www.trailtosummit.com. Even with poor weather, the program brought in 40 attendees and Allison gave a wonderful presentation that provided a lot of information on safe winter hiking in the White Mountains and elsewhere.
In the children’s room, librarian Ms. Inga has been engaging elementary and middle school kids with a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program on the third Wednesday afternoon of every month. Past projects have included making batteries out of lemons and lighting a candle with a pencil and a mason jar.
January’s programming focus is on assisting the community with their New Year’s resolutions, and includes programs on mindfulness, developing and sticking with an exercise plan, and the health benefits of essential oils.
